THE PITTER PATTER OF HAPPY FEET!

Penguin Point

Sea World has opened a brand new state of the art Fairy Penguin exhibit - Penguin Point.

The new exhibit, located at the northern end of Sea World near Dolphin Cove, is home to 11 gorgeous fairy penguins. The birds happily spend their days swimming and playing in the 100,000 litres of filtered water in the large lagoon system. There are also 30 specially designed burrows built into a large rock formation ideal for breeding.

Sea World hopes to hear the pitter patter of webbed feet among the penguin population in the up-coming breeding season.

Below is a profile on one of the eligible penguin bachelors, Reggie:

Reginald “Reggie” Profile
Date of birth: 2 September 2005
Parents: Gulliver & Stephanie

    • Reggie is one of the youngest penguins at Penguin Point
    • He is a bossy penguin and belongs in the bachelor group
    • Reggie is the most tactile out of all the penguins in our collection
    • He probably thinks he is one of the keepers and will follow you around the exhibit outside of feed times
    • Reggie use to be able to catch fish when thrown to him, but he now prefers to stand in the feed tray and eat directly out of it while all the other penguins stand outside the tray and take fish out.
    • Reggie is the bravest of all the penguins and is the only one who can and will climb to the highest point of the burrow hills
    • Reggie is currently going through his moult and in a weeks time he will have his new coat of feathers
